Hey! I'm Will and welcome to the Misfire! - Blog, the new home of my musings on everything Miniatures and Tabletop Gaming.
A little about me - I’ve been in and out of the tabletop hobby for the last 20ish years, with a love for all things fantasy and Sci-fi; from the literary works of Alfred Bester, J R R Tolkien, and Philip K Dick, to films spanning from John carpenter, George Lucas and Ridley Scotts Sci-fi Classics to the works of Jim Hensons dark fantasy of the 80s.
Fantasy and Sci-fi media has extended throughout my life with tabletop gaming and model building being an extension of that.
My hobby journey, as I remember it, started around the age of nine, with a visit to the Games Workshop inside Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock - exiting with the classic chaos warriors paint set in the early 2000s
This lead to weekly trips to my local Games Workshop at the time In Bromley, Kent, playing games, learning to paint, and taking part in every event possible, Warhammer, in all its guises at the time, became a huge part of my very being, talking the ear off anyone who’d listen about my interests.
Around the age of 16 my active participation in the hobby slowly petered out as other activities and hobbies took over, the big one being music and live sound, which eventually became my Career for over 10 years, but that’s a story for another time.
After several years out of the hobby, bar playing in a few Roleplaying groups, I fell back into it in 2019 after a brief trip to a hobby store and a small purchase reignited my love for the hobby.
6 years on and a certain worldwide event that shut down my work for a while, my hobby time exploded and with the breadth of new games, miniatures and resources out there I fell heavily into the hobby once more.
Now, 20 years on from my entry into the hobby, I find myself working just a few steps from that very same Games Workshop in Bromley.
