On a side quest - what’s up next?

Hey! It’s been a few weeks, don’t worry the blogs not going anywhere.

This blog is a sporadic exploration into my hobby, tabletop gaming and miniature painting hobbies, and the publishing schedule is likely to be just as sporadic!

I’ve been a bit busy lately and unable to find much time to paint and play games.

Although I have found some time to continue my research on the next Retroplastics! and there’s plenty more in the works as well as planning out some of the first Brush tips! articles.

Once things calm down a little and I can sit down at the painting table you can expect some more ramblings from me.

I’ll be back to miniatures next time but for the time being I thought I’d share some of Side-Quests I’ve been on lately…

Side-quests completed:

Something good…:

My incredibly artistic sister and her friend have opened up a fantastic creative hub in Deptford, running a whole slew of workshops from print making to embroidery and a bunch of other crafty activities.

I tagged along to their grand opening and was coerced in to helping out a little by taking photos and helping pack up, I’m incredibly proud of my big sis and can’t wait to get to some more workshops.

I don’t mean to w(h)ine:

Earlier in the year I took back on my old vineyard, yeh that’s a long story… maybe for another time.

This last month has been prime harvest season.

Relearning old skills and Playing with noiseI’ve been having fun revisiting some of my past skills and interests, I’ve started playing little bits of music again and exploring old projects like this generative artwork produced by a script I wrote in p5js (a visual programming language)

No AI used in this generative piece just cold hard math and lots of scratching of my head when things don’t work quite how I expect.

Session zero:

I’ve had a semi regular Roleplaying group playing games online for the last few years.

The group consists of friends all over the country and some elsewhere in the world, and we very rarely get a chance to play in person.

I’m not sure I’ve played in person since a short lived game of vampire masquerade with colleagues when I started at my current job a few years ago.

So when a member of my regular group invited me to a new in person group I was 100% in, we had session zero recently and it was a blast.

Everyone knows scheduling is the real BBEG and with two member of the group recently having had a wedding we can maybe forgive that we haven’t had the first session yet.

I’m sure I’ll be sharing more about this game as we play more but for the time being I might go get lost in character building, see ya!
